I got a few questions about the baseball pictures I posted yesterday so I thought I'd answer them here instead of trying to get back to each person individually. I am thankful for the fence-we would have been hit more than once if it wasn't there. But it is difficult to shoot through. I can't follow him as he runs the bases {except from 1st to 2nd} and when he's fielding if he moves too far one way or another, I lose him because the fence gets in the way. I stand right up next to the fence and put the lens right in front of it, after finding a good spot and angle. I do sometimes get the fence in the shot around the outside of the photo but if I leave enough room I am able to crop it off, as was the case in yesterday's shots. I edited yesterday's post to include the camera settings. Generally, I try to keep the shutter speed at least 1/400 {I prefer higher still} to stop action and get sharp images, even if that means upping the iso. I only had it at 1/250 for the batting photos and you can see that his bat and the ball are blurry in the 2nd and 3rd shots. I should have upped both iso and shutter speed for those.
I've been shooting baseball/softball for 2 years now and love it. It took a lot of practice to really get the hang of it and figure out what settings work well. Hope that helps. Any other questions? Feel free to ask!

Love the detail in this one! Truly lovely!
Nice.
Yep! It's a dogwood! I always heard that the dogwood tree is what what used for Jesus' cross. And since His crucifixion, the tree has never grown straight again. Notice how crooked and curvy that branches and trunk are (not straight enough for a cross). And when the bloom is fully bloomed, there is a red dot on each petal for where the nails in His hands and feet. One of my favorite blooms. I may go capture one today. :)
Simple and beautiful!
