A few months ago, Joe and I started meeting for lunch every other week or so. It's usually on Wednesday but he's got stuff going on at work tomorrow so we went today instead. I took Em's P&S with me so I wouldn't have to look like a huge dork whipping out the "big" camera. Oh, who am I kidding? Dorkiness is my natural state of being. Anyway, I didn't end up using it while we were out-there was nothing really interesting to shoot. I could have shot my lunch I suppose, but it was pretty boring. After dropping Joe back off at work, I went shopping for Joshua's birthday present. He turns 8 next Monday. How did that happen?? I found a few things he would like but didn't make any decisions today. I'll probably go back tomorrow and pick something up after we talk about it tonight. Whatever it is, it'll be something Lego.
Since I wimped out at the restaurant, I didn't have a shot for today. But then I looked down as I was driving to Target, rocking out to my ipod, and saw my cup from lunch sitting there. So I went with that. Don't worry, I was not driving while I took this. I used Em's camera in the Target parking lot and it turned out okay. But I'm a bit of a perfectionist {a shock, I know} so I grabbed my camera when I got home and took it sitting in my driveway. See? I told y'all I'm a dork. ;-)

I had to laugh at this Amy, cause I keep debating a p&s so I don't always have to lug the "big" camera, but also being a perfectionist, even if the pics are good I don't know if I'll be happy....I think you just proved to me that I won't. Fortunately, I don't mind whipping the "big" camera out in all sorts of places (and yes, I have gotten strange looks...lol) but it is a pain to lug around.
Funny! My p&s broke a few months ago, so my 'big' camera is all I have right now. I do get some strange looks. :)
Haha! I have been just "whipping" mine out. I haven't noticed any strange looks, but most likely bc I won't make eye contact afterward! lol Just do it girl! You won't regret it.
Sounds like we would all get along well or that most photographers must be perfectionists ;) And I am called a "dork" by my husband which I guess is fair since I call him a "geek". (he works on/with computers all day) Lady GAga is fun! Love the clean look of this!
i have my p&s all the time in my purse and in the diaper bag. If me and family go out, I bring along my dslr. At first, I find it embarassing to bring the big camera. But lately, I find out that there are also other people who'd go everywhere with their camera.. Most of the times, I get my motivation from other bloggers.
And oh, I am a certified dork, too!
haha... that would be me but my point and shoot died when i found the dslr - lol... well it is really gone because one of the dogs ate the end of the power cord and i didn't feel like paying $30 to replace it!
i'm a dork.. actually a geek as corey calls me!
I would love a p&s for that very reason! I'm dorky enough before I pull out my big camera...that just takes it to a whole new level. :)
i once brought my slr to a 3 year old birthday party with a big honking 24-70 that i rented on it. i was.the.only.one with a camera during the party...the parents didn't even take any pics. talk about dork! i felt bad b/c i was starting this project and i think the parents were expecting some nice shots and they were anything but! lol! btw... gotta love rocking out to lady gaga! love it!!
thanks for the blog book tip!
I can so realte to your comment about dorkiness. I usually take it. Because I am older, I must look really dorky. I even carry it in a back pack bag!! I don't care.
I love seeing everyone's pictures and getting inspiration and motivation to keep up with my project, but I have to tell you, I've enjoyed getting to know new people even more and I feel like I learned a lot about you today. If we lived closer, we could be friends because I felt like I was reading something I wrote! LOL.
hehe I have wanted to take pics in places but yeah haven't because of the same reason :o)
