204/365 chicago!

Like I mentioned before, we made a detour in Chicago to meet some friends for the weekend. Tony and Jeannine used to be our neighbors-there was one house between us. They moved into their house about the same time we moved into ours. Their youngest, Nathan, and Matthew became instant friends. Over time, Aaron, their oldest, and Emaleigh became friends too. After Tony retired from the military, they decided to move back home to Iowa. It was a sad day for all of us when the moving truck came and we had to say goodbye. We met them in Chicago 2 years ago when we went north and we were all very excited that it would work out to do it again this year. We had an amazing time with them-they are so much fun-and it wasn't nearly long enough {that seems to be the recurring theme for our vacation}. We could have spent several more days exploring Chicago too. We all loved it there. Joe, the kids and I have been there quite a few times but we have never stayed downtown-I would definitely recommend it if any of y'all are there. We could walk where ever we wanted to go {we did a lot of walking! And the kids did great with it, even little Joshua} and didn't have to worry about traffic or parking.

Okay, the "official" photo of the day:

We went to Millennium Park. Everyone thought the "bean" was really cool.

Looking up inside the middle of it. Can you see me? Here's a hint: I'm wearing a white shirt :-)

Handed the camera off to Jeannine so Joe and I could have one in front of the bean.

We walked down to the water front. Love all the boats.
We also went to the Sear's Tower {I know the name has changed but it's still the Sear's Tower to me}

And looking down. 103 floors to the street.

Nice pictures! The 103rd floor picture reminded me of when we visited the Twin Towers...they had a similar observation deck. Lived near Chicago for 4yrs too and never got to see the bean. Will have to make a point to it next time we visit there. Fun pictures!
