Brownie

A few weeks ago, the kids and I went into an antique store looking for a rotary phone for the scavenger hunt. They had one so we got our picture and then wandered around the rest of the store. An old camera sitting on a table caught my eye so we stopped to look at it. As I was doing that, Matthew saw another one sitting next to it. It was an old 8mm Brownie movie camera. Matthew insisted that he had to have it, since it was "so cool." It was only $12, so I agreed. As I was paying for it, Matthew was directed to the store's "Old camera expert." John told him all about the camera, how to use it, where to look for film. Matthew was very excited. Joe spent the afternoon looking online for film and how to process it. Film is not cheap. Neither is processing. And we'll need a projector. But Matthew wants to give it a try and we think he should.

I know Em is going to SV, but if Matthew likes photography, he DEFINITELY should go to SV. The photo teacher there is amazinggg! Not to mention...you get to process film for free (unfortunately there isn't enough funding to buy all the students film and paper...have to buy that yourself). And the teacher is always up for helping you experiment with older cameras. Totally recommend it.
